Landford Parish Council is seeking an experienced and motivated person for the role of Parish Clerk & Responsible Finance Officer (RFO), to manage the Council’s statutory, administrative and financial functions. Ideally the successful candidate will have proven experience in the role of Parish Clerk, have good literacy, numeracy, communication and IT skills, and have the personal qualities of integrity, objectivity and impartiality.

As the Clerk, you will be the Proper Officer, and lead and advise the Council on its processes and policies, research and produce information for effective decision making, be responsible for the effective management of resources, and provide reports as and when required.

As the RFO, you will manage all financial records, assist in budget setting and monitoring, and prepare all financial reports and records as required by legislation and council policies.

Clerks come from a range of backgrounds, from local government, the wider public sector and the private sector; the Council will provide support and training as required for the successful candidate.

This is a home-based permanent part time role of 25 hours per week (days and hours/day to be agreed), subject to a satisfactory 3-month probationary period, with one evening meeting per month, although flexibility must be allowed in the event of an extraordinary or other meeting.

Remuneration will be NJC scale 29 to 34, depending on qualifications and experience. You will receive 145 hours annual leave (equivalent to 29 days at 5hr/day) plus bank holidays, plus enrolment into the NEST pension scheme, which is contributory.

This role sits within the heart of the rural community of the villages of Landford, Nomansland and Hamptworth, in South Wiltshire, and provides an exciting opportunity to help improve the lives of parishioners, and to build positive relationships with councillors, residents, local groups, businesses and partner organisations. The Parish Council’s 2025/26 precept is £80k. The Council has 9 councillors. Full council meets monthly on a Wednesday evening.
