Zeals Parish Council Vacancy for Clerk / Responsible Financial Officer

Zeals is a small parish just off the A303 within southern Wiltshire.  It borders Dorset (Bourton) and is close to the Somerset border as well.  The Parish Council are looking for a Clerk/ Responsible Financial Officer (RFO).

Within the village there is a village hall, war memorial, village green, child’s play area and the village allotments.  With a current precept of £6200 and the injection of CIL money that needs to be managed within the Wiltshire Council guidelines, ideally, we require a qualified clerk (ILCA / FILCA) but we can offer training to this level.

The post requires a self-motivated person to oversee all Parish Council workings and liaise with councillors, Wiltshire council and residents as required.  Excellent computer skills, basic accountancy knowledge and an understanding of council procedures will be required.

This is a home based position with attendance at bi-monthly meetings along with ad-hoc planning meetings.   A home allowance is payable as per HMRC guidelines, along with the pay as per the NALC pay scales LC1 (14) which currently has a pay award pending.   The hours are approximately 20 hours per month with additional during busy periods.  IT equipment provided.
