NALC launches second edition of The Good Councillor’s Guide to Finance

The latest edition of The Good Councillor’s Guide to Finance was launched earlier this week. This updated guide is a valuable resource for new and experienced councillors, providing the tools and insights needed to effectively manage local council finances. It delivers a thorough overview of key areas such as budgeting, financial planning, monitoring, and governance. Also, it includes a new section explaining the annual governance assertions and accounting statements included in the Annual Governance and Accountability Return (AGAR). Given the significant role of parish and town councils in managing public funds, the guide aims to equip councillors with the knowledge required to uphold their financial responsibilities whilst maintaining public trust.
